     Charles Albert Davis, son of John Davis and Annie Brandis, was born on 5 October 1868 in Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, Middlesex, at 27 Alma Street.1,4,5,6,3

Charles Albert was the second of (seven or) eight children. His siblings were Guy Brandis (b 1883), Lydia Jane (b 1865), Kate (b 1872), Frederick (b 1874), Beatrice (b 1878), Annie (b c1880) and Flora (b c1880). (NB Annie and Flora may be twins or they may be the same person).

Charles Albert Davis appeared in the 1871 census of Hoxton, Shoreditch, Middlesex, at 27 Alma Street, in his parents' household.1

Charles Albert Davis appeared in the 1881 census of Highbury, Islington, Middlesex, at 130 Balls Pond Road, in his parents' household. He was described as a Scholar.4

Charles Albert Davis appeared in the 1891 census of Highbury, Islington, London, at 140 Balls Pond Road, in his father's household. He was described as a Compositor.7

In 1892, Charles Albert was a Compositor.2

Charles Albert Davis married Jessie Helen Roffey, daughter of Walter Ramsey Roffey and Elizabeth Charlotte Simmonds, after Banns, according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church on 6 March 1892 at St John's Church, Highbury, Islington, London. The marriage was conducted by Frank Roberts (Curate). Their witnesses were John Davis and Walter Roffey.2

In 1897, Charles Albert was a Printer's Compositor.8

Charles Albert and Jessie Helen appeared in the 1901 census of Carshalton, Surrey, at 12 Lavender Road. Charles was described as a Printer Compositor. Their children Gwendoline and Jack were listed as living with them, as were her parents, Walter Ramsey Roffey and Elizabeth Charlotte Simmonds, and her brother, Charles Victor Roffey.5

Charles Albert and Jessie Helen appeared in the 1911 census of Wallington, Croydon, Surrey, at 64 Thorp Road. Charles was described as a Compositor (newspaper printing). Their children Gwendoline, Jack and Harold were listed as living with them.9

In 1920, Charles Albert was a Printer Compositor.10
