I am indebted to Robert McNamara and Geraldine Markle who were both kind enough to share their copies of the O’Neill/Devan family tree with me. Reading Robert’s notes prompted me to get started on family history research; Geraldine’s descendant charts of Charles O’Neill and James Devan gave me the confidence to search on the Scotland’s People Web site when I was an internet rookie.
