Mary Jardine, daughter of Thomas Jardine and Mary Blair, was born on 22 April 1878 in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, at Pilot Acre. Her birth was recorded as being illegitimate with her name as Mary Blair. Her father's name was not given, but as Thomas Jardine is named as the father of her two older brothers (by being present at the registration of their births), it seems reasonable to infer that Thomas was also Mary's father.1,3
