     Lydia Woollard, daughter of William Woollard, was born circa 1822 in Wickford, Billericay, Essex.1

Lydia appeared in the 1841 census of St George the Martyr, Southwark, London, at 14 William Street. Lydia was described as living in the household of William and Catherine Morris. Edward Brandis was living in the same household.3

Lydia Woollard married Edward Brandis, son of Christopher Brandis and Jane Ingram, by Banns, according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church on 7 April 1844 at St George the Martyr, Southwark, Surrey. The marriage was conducted by J Horton (Rector). Their witnesses were Samuel Cooper and Rachel Cooper.1,2

Lydia and Edward appeared in the 1851 census of Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, Middlesex, at 8 Whitmore Place West. Their children Annie, Jane and Caroline were listed as living with them.4

Lydia and Edward appeared in the 1861 census of Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, Middlesex, at 113 St John's Road. Their children Annie, Jane, Caroline, Louisa, Mary and Rebecca were listed as living with them.1

Lydia appeared in the 1871 census of Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch, London, at 113 St John's Road. Her children Louisa and Mary were listed as living with her. Lydia was described as a widow and a Mangle Keeper.5

In 1878, Lydia was a Mangling Woman.6

Lydia Woollard died on 19 April 1878 in Banstead, Carshalton, Surrey, at Middlesex Lunatic Asylum. The cause of death was given as chronic brain wasting.6
