Annie Boyd, daughter of James Boyd and Elizabeth Kerr, was born circa 1840 in County Down, Ulster.1,3,4,5
Annie was the eldest of six children. Her siblings were Charles (b c1842), John (b c1846), James (b 1850), Elizabeth (b c1853) and Margaret (b 1857).
Annie Boyd appeared in the 1851 census of Stoneykirk, Wigtownshire, in her parents' household.1
In 1860, Annie was a Farm Servant.2
Annie Boyd married James Devan, son of Hugh Devan and Agnes Tracey, by Banns, according to the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church on 9 October 1860 in Little Lochans, Inch, Wigtownshire. The marriage was conducted by Daniel Conway. Their witnesses were James Quinn and Margaret Quinn.2,6,3,5
Annie Boyd appeared in the 1861 census of Lochans, Inch, Wigtownshire, at Corner House, in her parents' household. She was described as married and her husband was also listed.3
Annie and James appeared in the 1871 census of Castle Douglas, Kelton, Kirkcudbrightshire, at King Street. Their children Elizabeth, Hugh, Annie and James were listed as living with them.4
Annie and James appeared in the 1881 census of Stranraer, Wigtownshire, at 24 Hanover Square. Their children Hugh, Annie, James, Agnes, Thomas, John, Charles and Margaret were listed as living with them.5
Annie and James appeared in the 1891 census of Kirkpatrick Juxta, Dumfriesshire, at Lochhouse Cottage. Their children Charles, Margaret and Arthur were listed as living with them.7
Annie Boyd died on 5 April 1914 in Stranraer, Wigtownshire, at 101 George Street. The cause of death was given as chronic valvular disease of the heart.8
